How Business People Survive a Recession

KonstantinMake It Big

If a recession of the U.S. economy is not a question for you anymore this is a right time to think about a few creative things business people do to survive that time. Simplify everything and reduce expenses. Save money for your next investments when an economy will make its move from recession to growth.

Get freedom. If you claim that you are professional enough and are able to work independently take a chance and get your own business. Anyways your current salary is maximum a quarter of what your company charges clients for services. Working independently you will be able to charge less than half of your incorporated competitors and to provide the same level of service’s quality, even better. One more benefit of keeping a business small is an opportunity to give client a maximum care.

Next, if you are a freelancer and work independently don’t rent an office alone. Go on co-working environment. Your colleagues and friends from the nearest Starbucks where you spend a time with your laptop working on a next project, do exactly the same. Why not to rent and share a working space? It is not just a prominent savings it is a fun and productive working environment.

Go “green”! If you don’t commute a lot be well quit of your car. With today’s gasoline prices it not only makes savings for your pocket but also brings relief to the environment.

Cut your telecommunication expenses. Switch to free tools like Skype, Jajah and other innovative providers. They offer amazing variety of services combining cell phone, local, long distance and international communication for free.

Consult a tax lawyer or other qualified tax professional to maximize an efficiency of your business. Special attention needs to be paid to a Section 179 of the Tax Code which helps small businesses to cut considerably their tax liability. Instead of spreading the cost of business out over 5 or more years it is possible to count the expenses in a current year.

Consider to move your business out of territory that levies high business taxes. For example, there are plenty of business opportunities in “low tax zone” of U.S. Virgin Islands. Business people get there not only low tax regime but also very friendly business environment and constructive co-operation with government authorities.

Bottom line, undoubtedly a small business is more sensitive to so drastic economical changes than its big incorporated brother which has all necessary resources. But if small businesses can optimize and simplify their processes the business survival will be much more effective during this very uncomfortable period.

Free TV: How to get a cable TV out of pocket

KonstantinCreative Business Idea

Who can believe today that in 1950’s there were only 4 TV networks in the United States? Today thanks to U.S. cable systems we have hundreds of channels which meet an individual needs and desires of viewers all over the country. There is always something new in that industry and we are lucky customers who benefit from an advanced technology.

It is not cheap, however. My family spends a good piece of time in front of TV so my Comcast cable package is a Digital Premier which devastates my wallet by taking away $115 every month. Well, the cable company tries to calm me down: movies, sports, kids and entertainment programs all over the 100 TV channels and 48 music channels. Frankly, the comparison of all 9 packages and their benefits is a bit confusing. I personally don’t know what is the right correlation between the price and the number of channels? Do I need 100 TV channels? Or, maybe, if I pay my backs I need even more? Well, what about 400 TV channels with 20,000 TV shows for someone who pays for his entertainment? It’s sweet. And if it’s for free, it’s even better.

Alright! Let’s see what the advanced guys offer me today. I mean those ones from Kazaa, Skype and Google who made something amazing in music world, communication and searching. Their project Joost is a next generation TV which packed with internet tools such as instant messaging, channel chat and advertising for a global audience. It’s free of charge and totally accessible everywhere with Broadband Internet connection. There is no need in actual computer. The Apple’s MacTV connects directly to the internet and that’s it. Check out the channels, create your own ones, blog while watching TV and invite your friends.

But Joost is not alone competing to get me in . Babelgum, VEOH and others make their technological revolution in the industry. Like in previous revolutions in music and phone communication this one means a huge potential to these business people who know to suit themselves to the new technological reality. Well, in my opinion, these business people overwhelm us by this new technology: thousands of shows, hundreds channels in addition to dozens of new tricks and gimmicks. But take a deep breath. The winners are us, the customers. So, is it a time to say bye-bye to cable TV?
